WHY GO ELECTRIC?

Why make the switch from manual to electric?

Why electric garage doors

Most people who've had an electric garage door for a year couldn't imagine going back. Here's what actually changes:
  • You stop thinking about it: You press a button and the door opens. From inside the car, before you've unbuckled your seatbelt. In the dark, in the rain, when you've got shopping in both hands. The convenience sounds minor until you realise you've been doing it manually twice a day for five years.
  • Your garage locks itself, every single time: The door auto-locks the moment it touches down. There's no bolt to forget and no moment of doubt at the end of the driveway. The remote uses rolling-code encryption, meaning the signal changes with every press and cannot be cloned.
  • Built-in safety as standard: If anything interrupts the closing path, a pet, a child, a bumper that's slightly too far forward, the door’s optical safety edge stops and reverses before it makes contact.
  • Reclaim Your Space: Because there's no outward swing arc, you can park right up to the door. Inside, the roll sits in a compact drum overhead, preserving your full ceiling height.

Bespoke Colours to Match Your Property

Powder coat is the standard finish — durable, UV-stable, and clean in appearance. Plastisol is a thicker embossed finish with a leathergrain texture — exceptionally tough against weathering and UV fade over time.

HOW IT'S CONTROLLED

Total control, right out of the box

Every door comes with everything you need to operate it from day one.
    Included as standard:
  • 2 remote handsets: With rolling-code encryption — the signal changes every time you press, so it can't be copied.
  • Internal rocker switch: Wall-mounted inside the garage so you don't always need the remote.
  • Auto-lock on close: The door locks itself every time, no action required from you.
  • Obstacle detection: If something's in the path while the door is closing, it stops and reverses automatically, before it makes contact.
  • Anti-drop safety brake: the curtain cannot fall freely if the spring mechanism fails.
  • Internal manual override: If the power goes out, you can open the door by hand from inside.
  • Optional extras:
  • External key switch: Open the door from outside without a remote, useful if you access the garage on foot regularly.
  • Euro kit: Additional remote handsets for multiple drivers or family members.
  • External push button: Hardwired alternative to the remote for external use.

  • Frequently Asked Questions

If you can't find the answer to your question, give us a call, we're happy to help

Yes, a standard 240v socket within reach of the motor. Most garages already have one. If yours doesn’t, an electrician can add a socket for roughly £100–£150, and it’s worth sorting before your installation date so there’s no delay on the day.

You can still use your garage. Every door includes an internal manual override, you open it by hand from inside when there’s no power. If your garage has no other access point, an external manual override key switch is available as an optional extra, letting you open the door from outside.

Long enough that it’s unlikely to be the thing you replace first. The tube motors we specify are rated for tens of thousands of cycles, at twice-daily use, that covers decades. In practice, the first thing to go on any electric garage door is the battery in the remote handset, not the motor itself.

Sometimes, but retrofitting a motor onto an existing door often costs close to what a new purpose-built electric door would, and the result is less reliable. Call us and we’ll give you an honest answer based on what you’ve got. Sometimes it makes sense, often it doesn’t.

More secure than most manual alternatives. The auto-lock engages the moment the curtain closes, there’s no bolt to forget. The remote signal changes with every use, so it can’t be intercepted or cloned. And the curtain itself is aluminium, resistant to the kind of levering attacks that work on weaker panel-style doors.

Almost certainly not. Swapping an existing garage door for a roller, even changing the type, is permitted development in the UK. The only exceptions are listed buildings and conservation areas, where it’s worth checking with your local planning authority before ordering.

Your measurements are verified by an engineer before anything goes into production, expect a call within one working day of ordering. From that confirmation, your door is typically manufactured and delivered within 7–14 working days. Most customers have their new door within two weeks of placing an order.
